The 2014 Boston Marathon was filled with emotion. This was a year to take back the race and that definitely happened. In the elite field, the women’s record was broken by Rita Jeptoo, Meb Keflezighi won and the men’s division and became the first American to win the race since 1983, Shalane Flanagan broke her personal marathon record by over 3 minutes. The weather was perfect and the race course was lined with cheers from friends, family and supporters.
The official hashtag for the race was #weruntogether I had the privilege of watching the race from the finish line bleachers. I was there to see it all unfold and what was incredible to watch was how so many selfless runners, volunteers, police and medical staff helped these runners get to the finish line. I could write about what i witnessed but nothing can describe it better than raw emotion filled video. Congratulations to everyone that finished, volunteered and raised money for all the different charities. This will be a year to remember.
